The King of Fighters 2002 is a competitive fighting video game developed by Eolith and published by SNK for Neo Geo. It was released on October 26, 2002, in Japan and on November 25, 2002, in North America. An updated version of the game, The King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match, was released on February 26, 2009, in Japan, and on March 10, 2009, in North America.

The King of Fighters 2002 is the sequel to The King of Fighters 2001 and the ninth installment in the The King of Fighters franchise. The game features returning beloved characters like Terry Bogard, Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Mai Shiranui, Geese Howard, Billy Kane and Joe Higashi, as well as new characters like Ash Crimson and Duo Lon. The game also introduces the “Striker” system, which allows the player to choose a character to aid their warrior in battle.

The King of Fighters 2002 received generally positive reviews from critics. They praised the game for its massive roster of characters, gameplay, graphics, and music.
