The 2002 Fifa World Cup ROM was released on the 8th of May, and is one of the most popular football games ever made. It was developed by EA Canada, and published by Electronic Arts. The game received mixed reviews from critics, but was a commercial success, selling over 14 million copies worldwide.

The game features all 32 national teams that qualified for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, as well as 43 stadia used in the tournament. All of the stadia were authentically recreated from satellite imagery. For the first time in a video game, realistic player models were used that resembled their real-life counterparts.

Graphics-wise, the game was praised for its realistic visuals. One of the most innovative features at the time was the “Virtual Stadium” technology, which used an array of cameras to create realistic broadcast-style television footage.

The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube. A Mac OS X version was also later released. The Windows version requires DirectX 8.1 while the Mac OS X version uses OpenGL.
