Sonic The Hedgehog (JUE) ROM is a 1991 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis. The game’s story follows Sonic’s efforts to stop Dr. Robotnik from stealing animals for use in his robots. Sonic The Hedgehog (JUE) was a commercial success, selling over 15 million copies worldwide.

The game is considered an important title in the development of the platform genre, as it introduced various elements that became standard in later games, such as scrolling levels and multiple endings. Sonic The Hedgehog (JUE) has been ported to several other platforms and spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, and other derivatives.

A sequel, Sonic 2, was released in 1992. In 1993, Sonic CD was released for the Sega CD , Sonic 3 was released for the Sega Genesis, and Sonic & Knuckles was released for the Genesis and Sonic The Hedgehog 2. These four games are commonly known as the Sonic “Trilogy”. Sonic 3 & Knuckles, a combined version of Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, was also released in 1994.

A 3D platform game, Sonic Adventure, was released for the Dreamcast in 1998. Sonic Adventure 2 followed in 2001. In 2002, Sonic Heroes was released for multiple platforms. Shadow the Hedgehog, a 2005 spin-off featuring the character Shadow, deviated from the series’ traditional style. 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog was a reboot of the series intended to attract new players while still retaining older fans.
