Golden Axe ROM is a 1989 arcade game by Sega. The game was ported to several home video game consoles and computers, including the Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System and Game Gear. Golden Axe is considered a classic of its genre, and has been cited as an influence on many subsequent games.

The player takes control of one of three heroes: Ax Battler, a barbarian warrior; Tyris Flare, a Amazonian gladiator; or Gilius Thunderhead, a dwarf swordsman. Each character has different strengths and weaknesses. Golden Axe features side-scrolling gameplay similar to that of Golden Axe Warrior and other games in the genre. The player must battle through hordes of enemies to reach the end of each level.
