The Pokemon Go TCG crossover event is now underway, and as part of the festivities, several uncommon Pokemon will be available for a limited amount of time – including gleaming Meltan. This sparkling legendary beast will be accessible until June 30, making this your first chance to get one in nearly a year.

Meltan is a newly discovered mythical Pokemon that can only be obtained by transferring Pokemon to either Pokemon Home or one of the Let’s Go games on Nintendo Switch. Here’s all you need to know about how to catch Meltan.

What is Meltan?

Meltan is a steel-type mythical Pokemon that can only be obtained in Pokemon Go. Meltan may be found by completing the “Let’s Go, Meltan” Special Research task line or opening a unique item known as the Mystery Box.

How to get the Mystery Box

You can’t buy the Mystery Box from the game shop, unlike most other goods in Pokemon Go. To get it, you must move one of your Pokemon from Go to Pokemon Home or Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee.

The Mystery Box becomes available when you’ve completed your first transaction. The box, however, has a few limitations. When you open the Mystery Box, Meltan will appear on the map for 60 minutes. After that time has passed, the box will close and you’ll need to wait three days before opening it again (although the waiting period is frequently shortened during special occasions).

How to evolve Meltan into Melmetal

Another distinguishing feature of Meltan is that it may evolve. You can transform a lone Meltan candy into a powerful steel-type creature known as Melmetal if you collect 400 of them. Although this change can only be triggered in Pokemon Go, you must first develop Meltan before transferring it over to other games such as Sword and Shield.

If you want to evolve Meltan, you’ll need a lot of candy. While the Mystery Box is open, you must catch as many Meltan as possible in order to evolve it. By feeding a Pinap Berry to a wild Meltan before catching it, you may increase your amount of sweets received. You can also speed up the process by converting any Rare Candy into Meltan sweets.

Unlike most other shiny Pokemon that are available in Pokemon Go after they’ve been introduced, Meltan only appears during certain occasions such as the Pokemon TCG crossover, so don’t miss out on your chance to catch one while you can.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to ensure you’ll encounter a dazzling Meltan, so whether or not you get one is purely chance. The best method to guarantee you find a shiny Meltan is to open the Mystery Box as many times as possible during the event and capture every Meltan that appears. This will improve your chances of seeing a gleaming Meltan.

Best moves for Melmetal

Melmetal, like many other mythical Pokemon in the game, has a rudimentary move pool. Thunder Shock is your only Fast Attack option, making it the default choice.

The overall greatest Charged Attack for Melmetal is Hyper Beam, which causes the most damage per second. Flash Cannon, on the other hand, is a good alternative. The assault gives Melmetal a same-type attack bonus but takes longer to charge up than Hyper Beam.
