Mortal Kombat: Armageddon ROM is a fighting game in the Mortal Kombat series, developed and published by Midway Games. The seventh installment in the franchise, it was released in arcades on October 6, 2004, and for the PlayStation 2 on October 11, 2004.
The story of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon is set fifty years after that of Mortal Kombat: Deception and focuses on the final battle between good and evil. In an attempt to prevent Armageddon, Raiden gathers together the greatest fighters from Earthrealm to battle Shang Tsung’s forces; however, Shang Tsung’s ally Quan Chi has betrayed him and joined forces with Onaga. As the storyline progresses, various warriors are killed or corrupted by Onaga until only a handful of good guys remain. The game culminates in a final battle between the forces of good and evil, with the player’s chosen fighter emerging victorious.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon features the most extensive cast of playable characters in any Mortal Kombat game to date, with a total of sixty-two fighters. In addition to the returning roster from Mortal Kombat: Deception, Armageddon introduces new faces to the series, such as Taven, Daegon, and Khameleon. Armageddon also marks the return of classic Mortal Kombat characters like Baraka, Sindel, Cyrax, and Sektor who were absent in Deception.
