July 2022 Pokemon Go Events: Go Fest, a Starly Community Day, and More
Here’s a look at what’s new in Pokemon Go this month.
It’s time to begin planning for the summer months, and July is starting out strong. The mobile game will continue to offer a number of events throughout the next few weeks, including several Pokemon Go Fest gatherings and a Starly Community Day. Here are all of the major Pokemon Go activities scheduled for July 2022.
Starly Community Day
On Sunday, July 17th, Pokemon Go’s July Community Day will begin. The bird Pokemon Starly is the highlight of this month’s event; it will be more frequently encountered in the wild from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time than usual. In addition, during the event, several in-game bonuses will be active, including increased candy and XP for catching Pokemon.
Pokemon Go Fest Live Events
In July and August, three in-person Pokemon Go Fest events will be held in select cities. During these gatherings, which include a Special Research narrative that leads to the opportunity to capture a new Ultra Beast, attendees will be able to participate in special activities. The following are the Ultra Beasts that will be accessible at each event:
- Pokemon Go Fest Berlin (July 1-3): Pheromosa
- Pokemon Go Fest Seattle (July 22-24): Buzzwole
- Pokemon Go Fest Sapporo (Aug. 5-7): Xurkitree
Anniversary Event
On July 6, Niantic is holding a six-anniversary celebration for Pokemon Go with a special event from July 6 to July 12. During the event, rare Pokemon like a cake costume Pikachu and party hat Charizard will appear in the wild for limited time. There will also be a Battle Weekend mini event where Team Go Rocket members and a new Shadow legendary Pokemon called Shadow Latios will appear more frequently.
July Research Breakthrough
In July, the Pokemon Go Research Breakthrough reward will change. Every time you complete a Research Breakthrough this month, you’ll have a chance to capture Lickitung, the typical-type Pokemon.
Breakthroughs in the field are associated with the stamps you get from Field Research assignments. For each day’s first Field Research, you’ll earn a stamp, and if you’ve collected seven of them, you’ll achieve a Breakthrough in science.
July raid schedule
This month sees the return of a handful of legendary and Mega Pokemon to raids. Legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will appear in five-star raid battles at various times throughout July, with Pokemon Diamond mascot Dialga bringing the year to a close.
Meanwhile, during the first half of July, Mega Charizard X and Y will return to Mega raid battles, with Mega Pidgeot and Mega Gengar following afterward. During July, you may view the whole raid calendar as follows:
