Super Mario Galaxy ROM is a platformer video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii. It was first released in Japan on November 11, 2007, and later in North America, Europe, and Australia. The game is the third 3D installment in the Super Mario series. As with previous games in the series, the player controls Mario as he traverses planets of varying size and gravity while rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser.
Super Mario Galaxy ROM uses a similar gameplay structure to that of its predecessor, Super Mario 64 ROM; however, the game introduces new elements such as a more open hub world-like level design and co-operative multiplayer. The game also makes use of the Wii Remote’s motion control capabilities. The development of Super Mario Galaxy ROM began immediately after the release of Super Mario Sunshine ROM in 2002. The game was first shown at E3 2006 and was released in North America and Japan in November 2007. A PAL region release followed in December 2007.
Super Mario Galaxy ROM was a critical and commercial success, becoming the fastest-selling Wii game ever at the time of its release. The game won several awards from gaming publications, including multiple “Game of the Year” honors. A direct sequel to the game, Super Mario Galaxy 2 ROM, was released in 2010.
