PS Vita

PlayStation Vita is a handheld game console developed and released by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The console was released in Japan on December 17, 2011, North America on February 15, 2012, and Europe and Australia on February 22, 2012. The PlayStation Vita is the successor to the PlayStation Portable (PSP), which was released in Japan in 2004. The Vita has an OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 960×544 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. The system also has two cameras—a front-facing one and a rear-facing one—and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.The Vita was launched with a library of about 30 games available at launch in North America, including titles from popular franchises such as Uncharted, Wipeout, and LittleBigPlanet. In addition to traditional gaming software, the Vita also offers a number of apps that allow users to access content such as movies, music, and books. The Vita has been generally well-received by critics and gamers alike; while its launch library was praised, some reviewers noted that the system’s high price point and lack of backward compatibility with PSP games was a deterrent. However, overall the Vita is seen as a strong competitor in the handheld market, particularly against Nintendo’s 3DS system.
