Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Reveal Happening at Call of Duty: Next

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 release date for PC and consoles is set for October 28, and the game’s multiplayer version will be revealed at the Call of Duty: Next event on September 15.

Infinity Ward will showcase Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer modes, the franchise’s future, and updates on its battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone as well as the mobile version. The event isn’t scheduled yet, or if it’ll be live streamed.

Infinity Ward revealed Monday the date for the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta. The beta will be available to PS4 and PS5 owners first, with those who preordered Modern Warfare 2 gaining early access on Friday, September 16 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. All other PlayStation players will have their chance to participate in the test beginning Sunday, September 18 and lasting until Tuesday, September 20 if they have a PS Plus membership. A PS Plus subscription isn’t required to participate in the beta.

On September 22, the second phase of the beta begins on Xbox One, Xbox S|X and PC for those who preordered the game. Crossplay will be enabled so players from different platforms can collaborate. An Xbox Live membership will be necessary for Xbox beta testers. On Saturday, September 24, PS4 and PS5 gamers will be able to join in the fun, and testing will continue until Monday, September 26.

Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to Modern Warfare 2019, which was released in November. The first two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games were rebooted in late-2000s as part of the same franchise. The game will be $70 on all platforms.
