Crash Tag Team Racing was generally well-received by critics. The graphics and sound were praised on all systems, while the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions were also praised for their framerate. However, the game was criticized for its camera angles, collision detection, and loading times. Crash Tag Team Racing was a commercial success, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
