New Super Mario Bros 2 ROM is a side-scrolling 2.5D action-adventure platform game for the Nintendo 3DS. Developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo, it was released worldwide in August 2012. It is the third installment in the New Super Mario Bros. series of games, and follows up on the 2006 Nintendo DS game New Super Mario Bros..

The plot of the game centers around Mario and Luigi’s quest to stop Bowser Jr.’s latest scheme to kidnap Princess Peach and take over the Mushroom Kingdom using an army of Toads turned into coins by his new magical device, the Gold Flower. Along the way, they are joined by Yoshi and Toadsworth.

Gameplay-wise, New Super Mario Bros. 2 builds upon its  predecessor with a number of new features and gameplay mechanics. These include the return of Raccoon Mario, the ability to turn enemies and objects into coins, and a new Coin Rush mode where players attempt to collect as many coins as possible in a limited time.

Critical reception for New Super Mario Bros. 2 was generally positive, with critics praising the game’s faithfully old-school design and addictiveness, but criticizing its lack of originality. The game was a commercial success, selling over five million copies worldwide.
